Hi, I'm Erin!
I’m a mom, a Certified Recovery Coach, a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist-A (Trauma and Addiction).
I help moms break free from alcohol without feeling deprived.
I don’t have a rock-bottom story. I stopped drinking because I didn’t want one.
I don’t know how your June 2020 was, but mine was really hard. Sheltering in place, a lot of pain happening in the world, stressed out kids, a stressed out partner, tons of uncertainty… I don’t know what was messier, everything going on around me, or everything going on inside my head.
You might think that choosing to stop drinking in the midst of all that would be a bad idea, or would at least be really, really difficult. But I had reached a point where it clearly was not working for me. I was trapped in a vicious cycle of exhaustion, anxiety and avoidance: Stress out all day, drink in the evening (or afternoon, let’s be honest) to relieve the stress, get nothing done, sleep like crap, wake up even more stressed out. Rinse, repeat.
Something had to give.
Still, I resisted. I had tried to cut back or take breaks in the past, and it had been a miserable experience. If this was going to work, I had to do something different. So I didn’t follow a particular program or commit to a sobriety philosophy. I created my own recovery roadmap, personalized and customized to work just for me. And I immediately became inspired to help other moms do the same. My continuing formal education in the field of addiction and recovery, combined with my own personal experience, allows me to do just that.
Breaking out of the alcohol trap would be so much simpler if there were one sure-fire approach that worked for everyone, wouldn’t it?
The reality is, the tools, strategies, and mindset that work for someone else may not work for you. But that’s actually not a problem! When you work with me, we will co-create a custom path for you through a process of discovery, using your strengths and goals as a guide.
I will not ask you to identify with a label that doesn’t fit for you. I will not ask you to believe in anything other than your own potential to change. I don’t believe you are powerless or broken. I believe you are strong, worthy, and perfectly capable of kicking alcohol and mommy wine culture to the curb — and feeling awesome about it! And I’m here to guide and support you on your path.
One more thing: Parenting while embarking on a path of recovery has its own unique challenges. As a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator and Parenting Coach, I can also help you navigate your kids’ challenging behaviors without threats, bribes, stress, or guilt. Just want to stick to the sobriety stuff? That’s OK, too.
Why Recovery Coaching?
Recovery coaching is a form of strengths-based support for people seeking or already in recovery from addiction.
As a recovery coach, I am not a therapist or a sponsor. I combine my own life experience with specialized training and education to serve as an advocate and guide. My role is to help you identify your strengths, overcome obstacles, and support you in creating a life you don’t need to escape from.
If any of the following resonates with you, we may be a good fit to work together:
- You've tried to cut back or take breaks from drinking, but keep going back to it.
- You feel anxious if you are in a situation where drinking is not an option.
- You don’t love the way you drink, but aren’t sure what to do about it.
- You drink because you’re stressed and you’re stressed because you drink (ah, the vicious cycle!).
- You’re worried that if you stop drinking you won’t be able to have any fun or attend social events.
- You aren't sure if you can handle parenting without drinking (spoiler alert – you can!).
- You're sober, but struggling with cravings and feeling deprived or bored.
- You are ready to invest in yourself and try something new so that you can live the life you want to live.
If you’re ready to change your relationship with alcohol, I invite you to book a coaching session with me. Let’s create a life you don’t need to escape from!
