My Story

I don’t have a rock-bottom story. I stopped drinking because I didn’t want one.

I don’t know how your June 2020 was, but mine was really hard. Sheltering in place, a lot of pain happening in the world, stressed out kids, a stressed out partner, tons of uncertainty… I don’t know what was messier, everything going on around me, or everything going on inside my head.

You might think that choosing to stop drinking in the midst of all that would be a bad idea, or would at least be really, really difficult. But I had reached a point where it clearly was not working for me. I was trapped in a vicious cycle of exhaustion, anxiety and avoidance: Stress out all day, drink in the evening (or afternoon, let’s be honest) to relieve the stress, get nothing done, sleep like crap, wake up even more stressed out. Rinse, repeat.

Something had to give.

Still, I resisted. I had tried to cut back or take breaks in the past, and it had been a miserable experience. If this was going to work, I had to do something different. So I didn’t follow a particular program or commit to a sobriety philosophy. I created my own recovery roadmap, personalized and customized to work just for me. And I immediately became inspired to help other moms do the same. My continuing formal education in the field of addiction and recovery, combined with my own personal experience, allows me to do just that.

Why Recovery Coaching?

Recovery coaching is a form of strengths-based support for people seeking or already in recovery from addiction. 

As a recovery coach, I am not a therapist or a sponsor. I combine my own life experience with specialized training and education to serve as an advocate and guide. My role is to help you identify your strengths, overcome obstacles, and support you in creating a life you don’t need to escape from.
